The Langham Creek Family YMCA offers a jam-packed month of December events and programs for Cypress-area families.
On Saturday, December 10, bring the kids out for Cookies with Santa from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is a chance to meet Santa Claus, tell him your wish-list, and enjoy some free treats with him before he heads back to the North Pole.

Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District recently held their annual school menu Food Tasting Fair 2011 and nearly 300 students, staff and community members came out to test almost 50 potential dishes.
General Mills, PepsiCo and Kellogg’s, along with eleven other local food brokers also had representatives at the event.
Cy-Fair ISD has been holding school food tastings for more than fifteen years. This year’s event featured potential breakfast, lunch and gluten-free entrées as well as snack foods.
Towne Lake served as gracious host to hundreds of athletes on September 26, during the Memorial Hermann Houston Triathlon and Duathlon. The three course athletic challenge kicked off at 7:30 a.m. and was open to all ages and fitness levels.
Towne Lake’s centerpiece lake, which will be nearly 300 acres when completed, was the venue for the swim segments of the races. The running and biking segments wound through the community's vast roadways. There were three different courses for the participants to choose from including the “OLYMPIC”, “OLYMPIC WITH SHORT SWIM WAVE” and the “LONG DUATHLON”.

Caldwell Companies’ Towne Lake has teamed with the American Heart Association to host the Northwest Harris County Heart Walk, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 in the North parking lot at Lone Star College-CyFair, 9191 Barker-Cypress Road and winding through the neighboring Towne Lake community.
Following that, Towne Lake will host its festive Second Annual Craft Show at the Towne Lake Welcome Center, 9214 North Bridgeport Pass Circle West.
Texas Children’s Hospital is holding a book drive for their teen patients throughout the month of October at the Lone Star College Cy-Fair Branch Library. Donating to the book drive is a great way to help benefit these young patients and show you care for your community.
Everyone is welcome to donate funds or books (only books geared towards middle school and high school teens are being accepted). Books being donated may be new or gently used and can be dropped off any time the library is open during the month of October.
Donated books can be brought to 9191 Barker Cypress Road. All books need to be placed in the collection bins located in front of LSC Cy-Fair Friends of the Library bookstore or brought to the customer service desk where a librarian will accept donations. Don’t forget to attach a note to your bin donations indicating that book(s) is for Elise Sheppard and the Texas Children's Hospital Book Drive!
The roadways and waterways in Caldwell Companies’ award-winning Towne Lake master-planned community will be crowded with athletes reaching for the gold at the Memorial Hermann Houston Triathlon and Duathlon on September 26.
Onurmark Race Productions is presenting the triathlon/duathlon, which is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States.
This athletic challenge will kick off at 7:30 a.m. and is open to all ages and fitness levels.
The CyFair Volunteer Fire Department holds CPR and First-Aid classes several times a month for the CyFair Community at the CyFair Fire Department's Business Office. CPR is a life-saving skill, and—with the more-active (and hot) summer months coming up—CPR and First-Aid are great skills for anyone to learn. You’ll also get to meet your local fire department members, who work not only on your behalf against local fires but also participate in several important and local CyFair and Houston charity events throughout the year.
The CFVD business office is located at 9630 Telge, and the fee for CPR class is $20.00, First Aid class fee is $20.00, or both for $35.00. To attend a class, please contact the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Business Office at 281-550-6663 to sign up.
CFVFD has been part of the Cy-Fair community since the 1950’s, responding to 15,000 emergency situations with over 300 volunteer members from eleven stations every year. Here’s a big “Thank You” to a great department of great people in the CyFair Community!
Towne Lake Clubhouse is now offering two new fitness programs for the ladies! Residents can now get fit with Latin Zumba and Belly Dancing - both taught with certified instructors. For your convenience residents can attend at a drop-in basis at $5 per class.
Class Schedule: Mondays from 7-8 p.m. will feature Zumba dancing. Zumba features Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. It is low impact with high card benefit. Wear workout clothing and shoes and bring something to drink.
Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. will feature Belly Dancing, a three part class of mid-eastern dance movements for fun fitness designed to warm up the body, head-to-toe, teach new moves and choreograph routines. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a scarf and something to drink.
Cypress Fairbanks Women's Imaging Center is offering public information to the Cy-Fair area and Towne Lake community as a preventative measure for the development of breast cancer. The center is pushing for accurate, preventative care that can save residents time and lives.
The importance of regular screenings cannot be overemphasized; the current recommendations from the American Cancer Society are: Women should have yearly mammograms starting at age 40. Women who are high-risk should have yearly mammogram and breast MRI starting at age 30. Self-breast exams should start being performed at age 20.
These recommendations are supported by several credible organizations, including the American College of Radiology and American Society of Breast Surgeons.
