The Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks has recently made a $4,000 donation to Living Water International.
Living Water is a faith-based non-profit organization headquartered in Houston that works to help communities in developing countries attain safe drinking water. It is easy to forget sometimes in our beautiful community connected by water how scarce this life-sustaining resource can be for many people in the world.

The nation’s economic downturn has not slowed development activity at Caldwell Companies’ 2,400-acre Towne Lake master-planned community off Barker-Cypress and West roads.
Two major milestones have been achieved at Towne Lake in the past two months: the completion of the first 75-acre section of the 300-acre lake that will serve as the heart of the community; and the opening of the first of several bridges that will span the lake and serve as community connectors.

Because it is only the second year of a decade-long development plan, it is hard to imagine what the 2,400-acre Towne Lake master-planned community will look like when completed.
But developer Caldwell Companies has created an interactive kiosk in the community's welcome center, 9214 W. Bridgeport Pass Circle, to illustrate the scope of what is to come on that property that stretches from U.S. 290 to West Road along Barker-Cypress Road.
The centerpiece of the community is a 350-acre recreational lake that is under construction. About half of that lake will be completed at the end of this year. When finished, there will be 14 miles of shoreline. Randy Young, Caldwell Companies' director of operations and land development, said it will be the fourth-largest in the Houston region behind Conroe, Clear Lake and Lake Houston.

The Woodlands has its Waterway. Now, say developers of a new community in northwest Houston, Houstonians who are tired of the city's nonstop traffic also will be able to take a quick boat ride to visit their friends and family.
Towne Lake, a 2,400-acre community planned by Caldwell Watson Real Estate Group in the Cypress-Fairbanks area, will feature a 320-acre lake with connecting waterways allowing residents to travel via boat.
Although lake communities have become popular with developers in the past five to 10 years, "a community that allows residents to travel by boat has not really been done in the Houston area," according to Fred Caldwell, CEO of Caldwell Watson.

Towne Lake Aquatic Habitat Improvements
Through our continuing efforts to make Towne Lake the most successful private waterfront community in Texas, we have taken great strides to provide state of the art lake habitat improvements. These efforts will help ensure the health, beauty and functionality of Towne Lake for many years to come.
While the lake will serve a multitude of useful purposes, such as flood control and aesthetics, various recreational activities, such as boating and fishing, will also flourish. While these mixed uses are compatible, stringent measures must be taken to allow for their impact on aesthetics, water quality and the fishery.
