Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) has helped neighbors helping neighbors for over 26 years, making the Cypress-Fairbanks area a better place for all residents. With a group of 85 employees and over 2,000 volunteers, this non-profit organization helps people pool their resources to meet area needs reflecting the values of a community that works together to make Northwest Harris County a better place to be.

Friday February 12th NAM will hold a grand re-opening of its Community resale store at 10505 Jones Road (at Fallbrook). The store will be open from 10:00am to 5:00pm for a “Sweetheart of a sale” featuring special promotions throughout the day which include Valentine’s refreshments and a door prize drawing at 4:00pm. For every $5 a customer spends that day they will receive one ticket to enter the drawing to win a Valentine’s gift basket from HEB Vintage Park.

The community store offers gently used clothing, furniture, home décor, books and other household items to the community at great prices. This is a way for families to “get more for less” while helping fund NAM’s programs and services. NAM has two other resale shops at 3645 FM 1960 West and at 15555 Kuykendahl in the NAM building lobby. Seniors 55 and older receive a 10% discount every Thursday at all the resale shops.

While resale shops are only a small part of their many programs such as their children’s clinic, family violence center, food pantry and senior wheels, the resale shops provide the largest source of revenue, funding up to 18% of NAM’s operating budget.

In addition to offering gently used items to the public at great prices NAM also provides a program which issues vouchers to clients who can redeem the vouchers for donated good, free of charge. This is a way for families in need to get the “things” which are essential to building a home and getting “back on track.”
