Cy-Fair Women's Health

Cypress Fairbanks Women's Imaging Center is offering public information to the Cy-Fair area and Towne Lake community as a preventative measure for the development of breast cancer. The center is pushing for accurate, preventative care that can save residents time and lives.

The importance of regular screenings cannot be overemphasized; the current recommendations from the American Cancer Society are: Women should have yearly mammograms starting at age 40. Women who are high-risk should have yearly mammogram and breast MRI starting at age 30. Self-breast exams should start being performed at age 20.

These recommendations are supported by several credible organizations, including the American College of Radiology and American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Assessing Your Risk Women are at high risk for developing breast cancer if they have a family history of the disease, have had the disease previously, or tested for the BRCA1 or the BRCA2 gene. These women have even more screening options available, including the more detailed breast MRI or ultrasound.

The closest Women's Imaging Center to Towne Lake is located about 2 miles away at 9110 Barker Cypress (Barker Cypress near West Road).

To learn more or to schedule an appointment, call 281-897-3121 or visit CyFairWomensImaging.com
