A common mistake made by the do-it yourself landscapers is cutting the grass too short, in an effort to keep it looking manicured longer. As tempting as it may be, resist the urge, and follow these easy steps to grow a beautiful lawn.
The sharper you keep your blades, the more likely your grass is going to stay green. If your blades are dull, grass is torn instead of actually cut which results in the ends turning brown and making your lawn more susceptible to weeds and common disease.
From late spring to fall, you should consider using a biological insecticide to prevent grub worms and caterpillars from consuming your lawn and creating dead patches.
Simply put, water smart and save water by not watering your sidewalk and driveways. Watering just 30 minutes, two times a week should be enough, even during summer's peak, unless in a drought.
According to MSN Real Estate's 10 Secrets to a Perfect Law, “shorter grass grows faster and cutting your grass higher forces the roots to burrow deeper into the soil, which helps your lawn resist weeds and need less water. So go easy on the cut, fertilize and gently water.” You may end up with the lawn your neighbors are all jealous of!
