Cypress Creek High School journalism students were recently awarded national and statewide honors for the work they have accomplished on the Cougar Connection newspaper and Cougar Pride yearbook.
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) Gold Medal award was given to journalism advisor Jennifer Sansbury and her fellow Cougar Connection classmates. Each publication entered in the annual critique received a placing based on a total numerical score. A cumulative score of 973 out of 1000 was given to the Cougar Connection giving them more than the minimum 800 score needed for the CSPA Gold Medal honor.
Cypress Creek newspaper and yearbook staff received their first place journalism award at the Central Texas Journalism Invitational UIL meet that occurred in December. They received 13 out of 40 possible top spots!
Students from all over the state competed simultaneously. Way to go Cy-Fair ISD!
