Texas is Growing!

Texas has reportedly gained a large sum of new residents - exactly 4,293,741 new residents to be exact. Texas has reached the 25 million mark as it topped the national growth chart according to the 2010 Census.

Texas has grown to a whopping 25,145,561. This is a 20.6 percent increase since 2000.

The United States grew 9.7 percent since 2000, with a population of 308,745,538. This happens to be the slowest growth rate since the Great Depression.

“I was a little bit surprised about how large the change was,” said Steve Murdock, a Rice University professor and former Census director. “I thought it would be 25 million, but a 4.2 million increase is unprecedented in Texas history.”

Texas growth in population was the fifth highest, trailing Nevada (35.1 percent), Arizona (24.1 percent), Utah (23.8 percent) and Idaho (21.1 percent). Way to go Lone Star state!
